Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina maintains policies and practices that are compatible with all of the prohibitions in Article 1 of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). It can therefore sign and ratify or accede to the Treaty without the need to make changes in its conduct.

Latest developments
Bosnia and Herzegovina abstained from voting on the 2024 and 2023 UN General Assembly resolutions on the TPNW, which welcomed the Treaty’s entry into force and called upon ‘all States that have not yet done so to sign, ratify, accept, approve or accede to the Treaty at the earliest possible date’.1 In previous years it voted against it.
Recommendations
-
Bosnia and Herzegovina should urgently adhere to the TPNW. Until it is in a position to do so, it should welcome the TPNW as a valuable component in the global disarmament and non-proliferation architecture, work with the Treaty's states parties on practical steps towards disarmament, and attend the meetings of states parties as an observer.
