Mauritania
Mauritania voted in favour of adopting the TPNW at the UN Diplomatic Conference in 2017, but has not yet adhered to the Treaty. Latest developments
Mauritania has consistently voted in favour of the UN General Assembly resolutions on the TPNW in 2018, 2019, and 2020. At the 2020 UN General Assembly's High-Level Plenary Meeting to Commemorate and Promote the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, Mauritania noted that it was one of 122 states that voted in favour of adopting the TPNW, 'a treaty that makes a sizeable contribution to working towards our common goal and is undeniably an historical step.' Recommendations
- Mauritania should urgently sign and ratify the TPNW, and encourage other states to adhere to the Treaty.
